locked ur keys in car? 9:26 PM
an interesting article i've read....... (i haven't test it yet)

Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car have remote keys?

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk). Editor's Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!"

I think i should give it a try too, hahahahaha
誤會 9:14 PM
讓誤會慢慢地被淡忘
只是把感情的傷慢慢的拖拉下去

傷最終是好了... 但如要重提那份感情
最終只會把那誤會重新翻出來

傷...還是沒有痊癒

A few days ago "me" helped me added in the hair and woohoo, it looks better now with hair =D

the next step should added in at least the shoulders so it doesn't look like a head statue from some museum haha

New Desktop 10:26 PM
Bought a new computer last week. AOpen XC cube AV edition for $275. P4 3.0GHz CPU, Kingston 512mb RAM, Seagate 160GB hard disk and a 16x LG DVD-RW ROM. The bill comes to a total of $837 with tax.

It's basically a media center where you can play DVD, VCD, CD, MP3 and Video from HD or memory card, FM radio, TV, etc without even booting up windows. And best of all, you can control using a remote =D The ventilation design is pretty efficient and the machine is as quiet as your home fridge in idle state when running (of course will get noisier when you push ur hd/rom/cpu into extensive work).

parts in their original package

XC Cube and accessories. All the required cables and screws, etc are included. Even provided 3 power cords with different plugs for different countries.

The back. Fully integrated. An extra PCI slot (can installed a tv tuner card which is included) and a AGP slot for low profile graphics card.

The left side.

and the right.

and up and running. Small and slim~ This is what you really call a desktop..... not a "deskunder".

... as for my old and fixed desktop.... i gave it to my mom and replaced her old celeron 400

Desktop Fixed 4:15 PM
After 1 1/2 week, I finally spent some time to troubleshoot and fix it. Seems like the problem is due to not enough power supply to power up all the hardware. It's probably because the power supply is getting old and the doesn't perform as well as before.

Also fixed my hard disk, which had some data error due to lack of power supply when it attempts to write a bunch of data.

But still, I think i'm going to buy a new desktop as both my computers at home are getting obsolete to meet today's software requirements.

Looking Closely 9:38 PM
Looking stuff closely like that isn't such a good idea. Especially if it's something you got to face every single day (your job, your work, your friends, your computer just about everything), because you'll start realizing all these tiny little flaws and soon you'll find yourself sick of that thing.

Step back, and you'll see less things that annoy you.

Have been working with my old computer for years and finding all these little flaws, annoyances, slow performance, etc. So I tried fine tuning and upgrading my computer recently, but the outcome was the computer doesn't like to be fine tuned and upgraded, and it started falling apart and now I found more annoying problems.

*blah, I'm just here whining~*

USB2.0 upgrade 8:22 PM
Due to the reason that the one and only comp that has USB2.0 support (my laptop with a PCMCIA USB2.0 card) died, i decided to invest some money to upgrade my desktop (PIII 733) to USB2.0.

So I bought this PCI USB2.0 card for $14.95 on Friday, but unfortunately, it doesn't work. Spent 3 hrs trying to install it and try to see what the problem was (defects or incompatibility), but no solution found (although I suspect it's the quality of the line of product in general). So ya, cheap stuff == big risk. The store policy is no refund, but luckily I manage to convince the staff to let me buy another brand.

So today, I bought this better looking and more powerful version of PCI USB2.0 (4x external port and 1x internal port) with 1394 firewire (2x external 1x internal), which is double the price of the original ($29.00). Why i decided to spend double? Well, because it doesn't look as cheap and low tech than the one I bought, haha. Also it provides DC jack which I can plug it to the comp's power supply. Most important of all, i don't want to make another trip to the store and pay couple of bucks for gas. Blah, whatever, it's working and I'm happy with it.

Sorry, didn't mean to ignore you guys 8:14 PM
hummmmmm sorry if you feel that i'm purposely ignoring you guys in these couple of days.

1. i don't feel well speaking these couple of days due to health issue (probably will recover in the next couple of days)
2. my comp is working hard to crack some hard disk, so it doesn't feel well msg-ing
3. my laptop over-worked and die couple of days before, and it doesn't feel like working ever after, so i can't avoid problem #2 until a few days later
Hard Disk Recover 8:05 PM
Fixing a screwed up hard disk and recovering all the data in it is such a long and painful process............ (o, i'm only fixing a 20GB now and it takes about 14 hrs)..........

imagine those 300GB hard disk out there in the market..... *plugging my calculator* a 300GB would take 210 hr to recover.

that means it will take 210 / 24 = 8.75 days to recover 300GB (haven't include the disk fixing time and time for saving the 300GB of files to somewhere yet). So for those who think big == good, think again now. If you screw up your 300GB hard disk (around 5 yr life on average), you either screw up 300GB of data (if you didn't backup) or get ready to pay big $$ for technician to recover them for you.

slag, still 2 more hard disk on my desk to be fixed O_O"....

ICQ file transfer? MSN file transfer? 3:49 PM
NA, they are still too slow. So, here i am sitting by my computer for a couple of hrs to setup my local web server, configuring my router and plug it to the internet. And boom, there you go, 5Mb get to the other side of the line in less than a minute.

Well, to be honest, it's not really that fast actually, hahaha, but still a little bit better than using MSN and ICQ for file transfer to friends. You may say the the speed isn't that impressive, but consider you sending to 10 friends at the same time, the speed is still very consistent @ 5MB < 1min each (not like ICQ or MSN which speed is a direct inverse function of # of concurrent connections).
